I subscribe to the philosophy of portrait enhancement as opposed to retouching. I use 2 photoshop plug-ins, OnOne's PhotoTools Auto Skin Smoothener to minimize unattractive skin texture. I also use Nik Color Efex's Contrast Only tool to add brightness to eyes, teeth, and, in this case, the subject's pendant. From there, it's primarily hand retouching using Photoshops Clone tool to remove blemishes and some wrinkles as well as the Patch tool to soften damaged skin usually evident under the eyes, neck, and smile lines. The result hopefully gives the subject a "fresh" look but avoids making them look porcelain or doll-like. Let me know what you think!
