As of late, I've been hired by several restaurants as well as architects specializing in restaurant design to create photos. I love shooting restaurants. They are frequently infused with lots of interesting features. I think architects enjoy the challenge to design spaces with dramatic scale.Rye Bar and Delicatessen. Located in Uptown Minneapolis, Rye's design creates a smooth transition between the warm bar atmosphere and the deli area. I also photographed this project for Google:
Masu Sushi and Robata. This new Japanese Sushi concept is taking the Twin Cities by storm. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is smartly contemporary with splashy graphics. I often shoot detail photos of objects or architectural detail to support the images with a bigger scope. Frequently, I'll shoot both horizontal as well as vertical photos of the same or similar scene to give the client more choices.
Masu Sushi is located in northeast Minneapolis. A Mall of America location will open soon. This project was also shot for Google:
Olive Garden. Owned by one of my favorite clients, Darden Restaurants. They are developing a new Olive Garden concept called Via Tuscany. I was asked to go to Ohio to photograph the first prototype. Because I shoot almost exclusively using High Dynamic Range (HDR) techniques to balance exposure, TV screens often turn to mush. In instances like these, I shoot specific images of just the TV screens and mask them into the final image.
